Note: These instructions are intended for
persons using Windows 95. If you are using Windows 98 we suggest you use
OutLook Express that comes with Windows 98. If you are using MS
Internet Explorer 4.01 browser or higher, you should use OutLook Express
that should have been installed with your browser.
1. Do you have the Inbox icon on the desktop?
Yes: Skip to step #2
No: Continue
- Click Start then select Programs, Settings, Control
Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Windows Setup tab.
- Select Microsoft Messaging/Exchange and click Details.
- Make sure Microsoft Messaging/Exchange has a check mark
before it (you will be asked for your Win95
CD-Rom or disks).
- Click OK until you get back to Control Panel. If asked
to reboot, click Yes. If you are not asked to reboot,
restart Windows 95.
2. Right click on the Inbox icon.
Make sure Internet Mail is listed. If not, click Add
and select Internet Mail. Note: If Internet Mail is not an
option, Close out of the Inbox set up and then go to this URL with
your browser (www.iaxs.net/downloads/inetmail.exe). Save the file
to your hard drive (note where it’s placed). When the file is done
downloading, run it. After installation, go back to Step #2.
- Select Internet Mail and click Properties.
- Enter your Full Name (ex John Smith).
- Enter your Email Address (ex jsmith@iaxs.net
or jsmith@company.com if you
have a registered domain with Infinity).
- Enter Internet Mail Server (mail.iaxs.net or mail.company.com
if you have a registered domain with Infinity).
- Enter Account Name (ex jsmith).
- Enter your Password.
3. Click the Connection tab.
- Select Connect using the modem if you use a modem or
Connect using the network if you connect to Infinity through
your network.
- If you are using a modem, select Infinity (or whatever
you called your connection for Dial-Up Networking) in the box.
You may need to click the little down arrow next to the text box
to find it.
- If you wish MS- Messaging/Exchange to retrieve your
email each time you start it, UN-Check Work Off-Line.
- Click the Schedule button to change the interval in which
your email is checked. Do not set for less than 10 minutes.
- Click Ok.
- If Personal Address Book is not listed, click Add.
Select Personal Address Book. Click Ok and Ok again.
- If Personal Folders is not listed, click Add. Select
Personal Folders and click Ok.
- In File Name Box, type mailbox.pst and then
click Ok. Click Ok again.
- Click Ok until you are out of MS- Messaging/Exchange
setup.
4. Next time you want to check for Email or write Email, double
click the Inbox icon on the desktop to start MS Exchange.
5. To check for New Email, select Deliver Now from the
Tools menu.
- To send Email, click the new Email icon or select New Message
from the Compose menu.
When you are done with the message, click Send. (NOTE: Your
Email has not actually been sent at this point!)
Select Deliver Now from the Tools menu. Your mail
has now been sent.
6. Don't forget to use the On-Line Help built in on the
menu bar!
7. You can also add Deliver Now to the Tool Bar.
Select Tools and click on Customize Toolbar.
- In the Available Buttons box on the left, select the Tools
- Deliver Now icon and
then click Add. Click Close, and now you have the
hand holding mail. You can click this icon
now instead of choosing Deliver Now from the Tools
menu.
