NOTE: You generally do not have to go through these instructions.
When you install a browser, these instructions are covered. If you can
not get your browser installed or need to have Dial-Up Networking configured
so you can download a browser, then continue with these instructions.
1. Select Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, Dial-Up
Networking (Win98) or
Start, Programs, Accessories, Dial-Up Networking (Win95).
-If Dial-Up Networking is not an option continue, otherwise
go to Step #2.
Installing Dial-Up Networking:
- Select Start, Settings, Control Panel.
- Double click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Windows Setup tab.
- Double click Communications.
- Put a check mark in the box for Dial-Up Networking.
- Click Ok then Ok again.
- When asked if you wish to restart Windows, select NO
at this time.
- In Control Panel double click Network.
- IF TCP/IP is not listed, continue following the instructions.
Otherwise click Cancel and go to Step #2.
- Click Add.
- Double click Protocol.
- Select Microsoft in LEFT window.
- In RIGHT window select TCP/IP.
- Click Ok then Ok again.
- When prompted to restart Windows, click Ok. After restarting,
start at Step #1 again.
2. If the Make New Connection wizard does not start, double
click Make new connection.
- Enter Infinity for the name of the connection and make
sure the correct modem is selected. Click Next.
-Enter 952 in Area Code field.
- Enter 9522535324 in the Phone number field.
- If you have Call Waiting and wish to disable it enter *70W9522535324.
- If your modem calls out through a PBX phone system and needs to
dial a 9 for an outside line enter 9W9522535324.
- UNCHECK the Dial using the area code and country code.
Click Next then Finish.
3. Select properties for your newly created icon by right
clicking on the Infinity icon and selecting Properties.
- Click Server Type tab (or button).
- Type of dial-up server: PPP: Windows95.....…
- Under Advanced options: ONLY enable software compression
should be checked.
- Under Allowed network protocols: ONLY TCP/IP should be
checked.
- Click TCP/IP settings button.
- server assigned IP address should be selected.
- specify name server addresses should be selected.
- Primary DNS: 209.134.128.1 - Secondary DNS: 209.134.128.2
- Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on
remote network should be selected.
- Click Ok button on each screen until you are out of configuration.
4. Double click your newly created dial up Icon.
- Enter your user name with a capital P & username in
lower case (example: Pjsmith).
- Enter your password in ALL lower case letters.
- To have your password saved, select Save Password. This
may not work the first time or if you have to enter a password when
starting Windows 95.
- Click Connect button to dial.
5. Once connected, start your PPP application such as Internet
Explorer or Netscape browser.
