Traceroute shows the route packets take to get to a destination host on the Internet.
The results will show each router a packet passes through, along with three round trip time samples to get to that point and back.
A star (*) indicates that a packet did not return in 3000-5000ms and is considered "lost." An exclamation point (!) followed by a letter indicates that the router shown has returned an "unreachable" error.
Enter a destination host in the blank (ie "www.cnn.com").
Please note that the return path for packets is possibly different than the outgoing path.
